Accessible Sidewalks: Design Issues for Pedestrians with Disabilities
Transportation options are often more limited for people with disabilities. Like People of low-income, older people, and children, people with disabilities are traditionally underserved by our transportation system and are more likely to be pedestrians and transit users. Accessible sidewalks, street crossings, and transit stops are key to their independent mobility. Project Action estimates that barriers in the existing pedestrian environment --intermittent sidewalks, hazardous street crossings, and a lack of information in useable formats -- account for 25% of paratransit use, trips that could be shifted to pedestrian and fixed-route systems if the pedestrian network were more usable

Evaluation of Slope Stabilization Methods
Originally, sixteen different products, including erosion control mats, mulches and tackifiers, were to be tested for this study.
The steep slopes and the severe weather at the site cause rapid erosion of exposed soils and would provide enough area to test several products. However, the severe conditions limited the plant cover established during the first growing season, so the slopes were re-seeded and fertilized several times during subsequent years. Because the re-seeding and additional fertilization were done using standard materials and methods, no data was available on the performance of the mulches,
tackifiers, and germination enhancers.

Validation of Urban Vehicle Classification Sampling Methodology
The Mobility Analysis Section of the CDOT Division of Transportation Development (DTD) developed this study to determine whether the cluster count method developed by CDOT is statistically reliable for estimating vehicle classification on urban roadways with average daily traffic volumes exceeding 15,000 vehicles per day. Specifically, CDOT needed to assess whether or not the percentages of vehicles in the 13 FHWA vehicle classifications estimated by the cluster count method differ significantly from expected percentages obtained by 24-hour counts.
